Sound familiar?
Four things site owners tell us before they install anything. Each one is why a feature in ChatFlint exists.
The same twenty questions, every day
Opening hours, delivery, sizes, the refund policy. The answers are already on your site, but nobody reads them.
It answers from those pages, in seconds. The questions it cannot answer become a list, so you learn what your site is missing.
Someone asks at 11pm and nobody answers
The best-intentioned inbox is empty overnight and at weekends, and a visitor who waits until morning has usually gone elsewhere.
Outside your hours it keeps answering, and when a question needs you it takes the message and saves the contact as a lead.
A chatbot that invented a price
General-purpose bots fill gaps with plausible fiction. One invented discount in writing is worse than no chatbot at all.
Prices and stock come from WooCommerce, not from the model. When nothing in your content answers the question, it says so and offers a human.
Your customers’ chats on someone else’s server
Hosted widgets keep every conversation, every email address and every complaint on infrastructure you do not control and cannot audit.
Conversations, leads and the knowledge base stay in your own database. The only thing that leaves is the question you send to your own AI account.
A plugin, not a platform.
ChatFlint is a WordPress plugin that reads the site it is installed on — pages, posts, products, PDFs — and answers visitors from that, in their own language, with a link to the page the answer came from.
It runs on your hosting with an AI key you own, so there is no per-message bill and nothing leaves your server except the question you send to the model. It started on client sites, and everything in it exists because a real site needed it.
About usWhat you actually get
What it does
It answers only from what you published
Pages, posts, products, PDFs, a website crawl, sitemaps and your own Q&A — extracted properly, even from Elementor, Divi and Gutenberg layouts, and kept in sync as you publish. Unchanged content is never re-processed, so staying current costs nothing.

A widget styled to your brand, a human one click away in any language, and a lead captured when nobody is around. Every conversation is logged with tags, notes and ratings, and the questions it could not answer become a to-do list for your content.

Real product cards with prices and stock from WooCommerce, comparisons, and add to cart. Costs you can see per model, an AI disclosure visitors can actually read, and analytics that show what people ask and what went unanswered.

The same plugin, but the reason to install it is different depending on what your site does. These are the four we built it around.
WooCommerce shops
Shoppers describe what they want rather than browsing your categories. It turns “something warm for a toddler, under 40” into real product cards with your live prices and stock, compares them, and adds the chosen one to the cart.
- Product cards from your catalogue
- Prices and stock never invented
- Add to cart and check out in the chat
Service businesses
Most enquiries are the same five questions before anyone asks for a quote. It answers those from your own pages, then captures the enquiry with the context attached, so you reply to a real lead rather than a blank form.
- Answers from your pages, in the visitor’s language
- Lead capture at the moment of interest
- Business hours, with offline capture
Agencies and freelancers
One licence covers five or twenty client sites. Configure it once, export the settings, and import them on the next build — the knowledge base is the only thing that differs between clients.
- 5 or 20 sites on one licence
- Export a configuration, reuse it
- Reseller terms on Studio
Documentation-heavy products
A support page nobody can search is a support ticket waiting to happen. It reads the whole manual, answers the specific question, and cites the page it came from so the reader can check.
- PDFs, Word files and a site crawl
- Every answer can cite its source
- Unanswered questions logged as gaps
Works with what you already run
Every name here is a real integration in the plugin, not a compatibility claim. Page-builder layouts and custom fields are read properly rather than scraped flat, translated content answers in its own language, product prices and stock come from your catalog as they change, and alerts reach you where you already are. The AI runs on the provider you choose, with your own key.

Plugin or platform
Sometimes a hosted widget is the right purchase — if nobody on your side wants to hold an API key, it is a reasonable thing to buy. These are the four differences that usually decide it.
The long version, including where hosted genuinely wins.
Read the comparisonWhere the conversations live
- ChatFlint
- Your WordPress database, under your own privacy policy.
- A hosted widget
- The vendor’s servers, under theirs.
What it costs as it succeeds
- ChatFlint
- A fixed licence, plus AI at cost price — a busy month is a few dollars more.
- A hosted widget
- A bill that scales with conversations or seats.
When it doesn’t know
- ChatFlint
- It says so, logs the question for you, and offers a human.
- A hosted widget
- Most fill the gap with something plausible.
If you stop paying
- ChatFlint
- It keeps working; only new versions and support stop.
- A hosted widget
- The widget stops.
Common questions
The questions that come up most often, answered here. Yours not among them? Just ask — there is a human on the other end of the contact form.
Or ask the assistant in the corner: it has read every page on this site, including the limits.
What is ChatFlint, exactly?
A WordPress plugin. You install it on your own site, it reads your pages, posts, products and documents into a knowledge base in your own database, and it answers visitors from that material — with a link to the page each answer came from. There is no account with us, no external service, and nothing phones home.
Do I need my own AI API key?
Not to start: every plan opens with a 7-day free trial that runs on our AI, so the first thing you see is the chatbot answering from your own content. After that you paste a key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, xAI or OpenRouter, and they bill you at cost — we never sit between you and the model, and there is no per-message fee from us.
What will the AI actually cost me per month?
For most small business sites it is a few dollars. Around $0.20 of AI covers 500 questions on a mid-range model; unchanged content is never re-processed, and repeated questions are served from a cache at no cost. The dashboard shows your real spend per model, and you can set a hard daily cap.
Will it make things up?
It is built not to. Answers are grounded in the passages retrieved from your content, prices and stock come from WooCommerce rather than from the model, blog articles are marked so the bot never turns general advice into a promise about your services, and when nothing matches it says it does not have that information and offers a human.
Does it work in other languages?
Yes. It answers in the visitor’s language automatically, understands questions written in a different alphabet from your content, and follows WPML or Polylang so a Dutch page gets a Dutch answer.
What if a visitor wants a human?
The chat is handed to your inbox, with alerts by email or Telegram. Outside your business hours it takes a message and captures the contact details as a lead instead of leaving someone waiting.
What happens when the trial ends?
Nothing is deleted and nothing renews — there is no card on file. The chat pauses, and you continue either way: pick a plan, or paste your own provider key and keep using it exactly as before. Everything you configured and trained carries over.
