ChatFlint vs Tidio
Checked in September 2026 against public documentation and pricing. Both products move; where a number matters to your decision, verify it with them.
A hosted live-chat platform with AI, against a self-hosted WordPress plugin. Two different products for two different problems.
Tidio is a live-chat and customer-service platform with AI layered on top. We are a WordPress plugin that answers from your own content. The comparison is less “which is better” than “which problem do you have”.
The structural differences
| ChatFlint | Tidio | |
|---|---|---|
| Product shape | WordPress plugin on your hosting | Hosted SaaS platform with a widget |
| Where conversations live | Your database | Their infrastructure |
| Billing | Licence per site + AI at cost | Monthly, with plan limits |
| Cost as volume grows | AI cost rises gently | Plan upgrades |
| If you stop paying | Keeps working, updates stop | Widget stops |
| When it does not know | It says so, logs the question as a gap, and offers a human | Hands the chat to the live-chat team, which is the platform’s strength |
| Team inbox and workflows | Handoff inbox inside WordPress | Mature multi-agent platform |
| Channels | Website and WhatsApp | Website, email, social, messengers |
| Knowledge source | Your whole site, indexed and kept in sync | Content you connect to their platform |
| WooCommerce | Reads your catalog directly: product cards with live prices, sale prices and stock, filters on attributes, add to cart in the chat | Product recommendations from content it has crawled; no direct read of prices, stock or attributes |
Where Tidio is the better buy
- You have a support team that needs assignment, shifts and workload views.
- You want one inbox across email, social and messengers as well as chat.
- Nobody on your side wants to hold an API key or think about hosting.
Where we are the better buy
- Your priority is accurate answers from a content-heavy WordPress site, not routing conversations between agents.
- You care that customer conversations stay in your own database, under your own privacy policy.
- You sell with WooCommerce and want the assistant to recommend real products with live prices.
- You expect volume, and would rather not have your bill scale with your success.
If your problem is a support team, buy the platform. If your problem is that visitors cannot find answers that already exist on your site, a self-hosted plugin solves it more directly and much more cheaply.
Questions
Can I run both?
Technically yes, but two chat widgets on one page is a bad experience. Pick one.
Is a plugin harder to set up?
It adds one step: getting an API key. After that, indexing your site is a couple of clicks.
Put it on your site this week
One plugin, your own content, and seven days on our AI before you add a key. No subscription to a chat platform, no data leaving your hosting.
- Download and install. Upload it under Plugins → Add New, like any other plugin.
- Start the trial. The setup wizard asks for an email; the answers run on our AI while you decide.
- Sync your content. One click reads your pages, posts and products. From then on it answers your visitors.
